Auto Auctions
Buyers have a number of choices these days when it comes to finding a
car. Those with experience in bidding and in fixing old cars can find a great
deal at an auto auction. A vehicle will be sold at an auto auction when it
has been abandoned or if its owner has been involved in criminal activity or
has failed to make payments. Hence cars at an auto auction can vary in
quality and condition. While auto auction state laws vary, many cars that
have been seized by the police or repossessed by a creditor are up for
auction. The creditors and police use the funds from an auto auction to
recover the costs of towing and storing the vehicle, so most vehicles are
listed well below market value. Cars at an auto auction are sold “as is,” and
it is wise for the bidder to inspect the vehicle before placing a bid. Lift the
hood, check the oil, and inspect the interior. Bidders cannot test-drive any
of the vehicles, which are sold without a warranty, and the winning bidder is
required to remove the vehicle at the end of the auto auction, regardless of
its condition. Bidding at an auto auction can become competitive for
coveted cars or parts, and it is important for the bidder to have a clear
understanding of how much he or she is willing and able to pay.
