Impounded Cars
Impounded cars are vehicles that have been seized or confiscated by the
police. Usually, the impounded cars have been seized due to the owner’s involvement in criminal activity or failure to make payments. Other
impounded cars have been brought in because they were involved in a
collision or were found abandoned. Seized vehicles are brought to the
impound lot, and after the lot becomes full, the police auction off the
impounded cars to clear the lot and to refund the costs of the vehicle’s
recovery and storage. While state laws vary, usually anyone can bid on
impounded cars. The impounded car auctions are held either at the
impound lot or in an online auction. Bidders are allowed to inspect the
car, lift the hood, and start the engine, however they are not allowed to
test drive any of the vehicles. Online auctions provide bidders with
photos and specs of the impounded cars. The quality and working
condition of impounded cars can vary, but those with some knowledge
about cars and experience with bidding can find a great deal. If
interested in bidding, make sure to research the car’s value and history.
Winning bidders will be required to pay for the impounded cars and
remove them from the lot at the conclusion of the auction.
